Top 10 Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2012

Event hosted by A Life Bound by Books, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Fiktshun, and Two Chicks On Books

There are soooo many books that I’m looking forward to in 2012, but here are some from my WoW posts and other randomness.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth – Um, duh. If you’ve already read Divergent, then I need no further explanation.

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers – Nun assassins! This sounds awesome and I love the cover. (Psst, one of my faves, Brodie, is having an ARC giveaway for this one here!)

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund – Another cover that I love but…Persuasion retelling! In space!

Insignia by S.J. Kincaid – Lucky me, I already have this waiting for me on my shelf and I’m 99% sure it will be the first book of 2012 for me. It sounds fantastic and I can’t wait to dive in.

This Is Not a Test by Courtney Summers – Zombies and a main character that has lost the will to live? Yes, please!

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore – I only just read Graceling and Fire recently, but I’ve fallen in love with the world Cashore created. I’m excited to hopefully see some familiar faces again (Po!) and I’m dreading learning more about that creepy mofo, Leck.

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver – ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than that, Lauren Oliver is one of my favorite authors and I will read anything she writes — this is no exception.

Shadows Cast By Stars by Catherine Knutsson – This sounds like it has a different edge from the usual dysoptian reads so I’m eager to see if this is true. Plus, that cover!

Partials by Dan Wells – I’ve only read good reviews for this one and it sounds so.damn.awesome. Let’s hope it meets my expectations!

The Selection by Kiera Cass – Royalty and intrigue! I’m hoping I will devour this one.

Other books I’m looking forward to (lots of sequels!):
• Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
• Rebel Heart by Moira Young
• Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2 by Laini Taylor
• Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
• Crown of Embers by Rae Carson
• Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick
• Fever by Lauren DeStefano
• Penryn & the End of Days #2 by Susan Ee
• Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
• Revived by Cat Patrick
• Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
• The Twelve by Justin Cronin

….and only a ton more.

Anything I should add to the list? What are you looking forward to?

Generations ago, a genetic experiment gone wrong—the Reduction—decimated humanity, giving rise to a Luddite nobility who outlawed most technology.

Eighteen-year-old Luddite Elliot North has always known her place in this caste system. Four years ago Elliot refused to run away with her childhood sweetheart, the servant Kai, choosing duty to her family’s estate over love. But now the world has changed: a new class of Post-Reductionists is jumpstarting the wheel of progress and threatening Luddite control; Elliot’s estate is floundering; and she’s forced to rent land to the mysterious Cloud Fleet, a group of shipbuilders that includes renowned explorer Captain Malakai Wentforth—an almost unrecognizable Kai. And while Elliott wonders if this could be their second chance, Kai seems determined to show Elliot exactly what she gave up when she abandoned him.

But Elliot soon discovers her childhood friend carries a secret—-one that could change the society in which they live…or bring it to its knees. And again, she’s faced with a choice: cling to what she’s been raised to believe, or cast her lot with the only boy she’s ever loved, even if she has lost him forever.

Inspired by Jane Austen’s PERSUASION, FOR DARKNESS SHOWS THE STARS is a breathtaking romance about opening your mind to the future and your heart to the one person you know can break it.

I need this book in my life. The cover is stunning, has perfect typeface, and then…the summary. Elements of Jane Austen’s Persuasion? Holy sh…yes! I haven’t read Peterfreund’s unicorn series (yet), but I’ve seen it pop up a lot so I’ve definitely been curious about her writing. Even more so now! June, why are you so far away?

What are you waiting on this week?

Also, hello again, everyone! It feels like forever since my last post. I had a BLAST in Las Vegas this weekend and I plan to be back to regular posting and reading sooooon.
