Best of the Bunch/Monthly Recap: April 2012

For April: The Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness

BAM. Yes, I am cheating since there are three books, including one that I read in 2010, but these books are epic and brilliant. It’s been a few weeks since I turned the last page in Monsters of Men and I am still constantly thinking about these characters and world. You can read my full review here.

Best of the Bunch/Monthly Recap: March 2012

Best of the Bunch is hosted by Always Lost in Stories (formerly hosted by Lyrical Reviews) to give us the chance to highlight our favorite read of the month.

For March: The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker

This book was so quiet, subtle, and haunting. Despite what was happening to the world, it was such a personal story. My review will be up soon!

March Recap:

BAH. Another fail month for me. Few reviews, little to no reading (gasp!), and all around suck. I got too wrapped up in Hunger Games craziness (it.was.amazing!), illness, and other real life stuff. I won’t make any promises, but I do have some reviews scheduled for this month so hopefully I can stop slacking.

Best of the Bunch/Monthly Recap: February 2012

Best of the Bunch is hosted by Always Lost in Stories (formerly Lyrical Reviews) to give us the chance to highlight our favorite read of the month.

For February: Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

THANK YOU, LAUREN OLIVER, FOR NOT LETTING ME DOWN. My February reads were only so-so, with some books really disappointing me and the others not 100% wow-ing me. I was worried Pandemonium would be a sophomore slump, but that was sooo not the case. Expect my review soon!

February Recap:

I didn’t do a recap last month and this month was pretty slow. My sleep schedule was all sort of screwed up and work only added to my lack of energy. Let’s see what’s ahead in March!

Reviews Posted:
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
The Dairy Queen Trilogy by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter
The Name of Stars by Maureen Johnson
The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour
The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder

FYI, apologies if anything looks screwy on the blog. Stuff happened and I was forced to do a fresh install of wordpress. Yikes, right? I am 98% sure I fixed just about everything, but in case I didn’t, I’ll get to it soon.

Best of the Bunch/Monthly Recap: December 2011

Best of the Bunch is hosted by Lyrical Reviews to give us the chance to highlight our favorite read of the month.

For December: Angelfall by Susan Ee

My review will go up on Tuesday, but I will continue to fangirl over it now: I was completely riveted. It had the perfect mix of thrills, excitement, darkness, and a great cast of characters. Look it up on Amazon or B&N for an amazing deal.

December Recap:

December at work had me crying every night (kidding, but it was very stressful/busy), so blog time was minimal. Still, I expected it to be worse. Here are my posts:

It has been such a blast reading, blogging, and fangirling with you all. I had some amazing experiences this year — from meeting some of my authors at Comic-Con (Stephanie Perkins! Laini Taylor! Veronica Roth!) to simply squeeing over some awesome book boyfriends (St. Clair! Cricket! Four!) — and I’m so excited for what’s ahead. My goals for reading/blogging will be up tomorrow. I hope you all have a fun and safe Happy New Year. Thank you all for visiting and following the blog. See you all in 2012!

Top 10 Books I’m Looking Forward to in 2012

Event hosted by A Life Bound by Books, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Fiktshun, and Two Chicks On Books

There are soooo many books that I’m looking forward to in 2012, but here are some from my WoW posts and other randomness.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth – Um, duh. If you’ve already read Divergent, then I need no further explanation.

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers – Nun assassins! This sounds awesome and I love the cover. (Psst, one of my faves, Brodie, is having an ARC giveaway for this one here!)

For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund – Another cover that I love but…Persuasion retelling! In space!

Insignia by S.J. Kincaid – Lucky me, I already have this waiting for me on my shelf and I’m 99% sure it will be the first book of 2012 for me. It sounds fantastic and I can’t wait to dive in.

This Is Not a Test by Courtney Summers – Zombies and a main character that has lost the will to live? Yes, please!

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore – I only just read Graceling and Fire recently, but I’ve fallen in love with the world Cashore created. I’m excited to hopefully see some familiar faces again (Po!) and I’m dreading learning more about that creepy mofo, Leck.

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver – ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Other than that, Lauren Oliver is one of my favorite authors and I will read anything she writes — this is no exception.

Shadows Cast By Stars by Catherine Knutsson – This sounds like it has a different edge from the usual dysoptian reads so I’m eager to see if this is true. Plus, that cover!

Partials by Dan Wells – I’ve only read good reviews for this one and it sounds so.damn.awesome. Let’s hope it meets my expectations!

The Selection by Kiera Cass – Royalty and intrigue! I’m hoping I will devour this one.

Other books I’m looking forward to (lots of sequels!):
• Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
• Rebel Heart by Moira Young
• Daughter of Smoke & Bone #2 by Laini Taylor
• Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
• Crown of Embers by Rae Carson
• Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick
• Fever by Lauren DeStefano
• Penryn & the End of Days #2 by Susan Ee
• Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
• Revived by Cat Patrick
• Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
• The Twelve by Justin Cronin

….and only a ton more.

Anything I should add to the list? What are you looking forward to?
