Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Romances

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and features a new top ten list each week.

Top Ten Nine Favorite Romances

It was very difficult not to get out of control with this week’s topic so I am limiting myself to mostly recent(ish) book couples. Bear with me and my ramblings ahead.

Sydney + Adrian

(Bloodlines by Richelle Mead) – Alright, so yeah, I was super attached to the idea of Adrian and Rose in the Vampire Academy books, but Sydney and Adrian are something else altogether. I’ve loved their growing friendship and The Golden Lily had me puking rainbows (and then crying). I’m so, so excited to get to The Indigo Spell!

Puck + Sean
(The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater) – Ugh, this romance was so quiet and sweet that I could CRY. Maggie Stiefvater definitely brought the swoon with these two and more people should love them!!

Mary + James
(The Agency series by Y.S. Lee) – CHEMISTRY LIKE WHOA. Seriously, their banter is the best of the best and the kissing isn’t bad either (ALSO THE BEST).

Lena + Julian
(Delirium series by Lauren Oliver) – Alex, wah wah wah. NO. I liked him in the first book, but then Julian came along and angels sang. His relationship with Lena was so well developed. I WANT TO KNOW. I WANT TO KNOW WITH YOU.

Ian + Wanderer

(The Host by Stephenie Meyer) – They were so unexpected and yet so damn great. Their friendship evolved into such a lovely relationship. I’m curious to see how their romance will play out on screen!

Elisa + Hector
(Fire and Thorns series by Rae Carson) – So much mutual respect and admiration between these two! Rae Carson has truly allowed their relationship to feel so natural and I’m so anxious to find out what happens in book three.

Clara + Christian & Clara + Tucker
(Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand) – No, you are not seeing things, I do have both Tucker AND Christian up there. This never happens: I always have THE guy I’m rooting for and yet…I love them both and I’ve had strong feelings about this series since I read the last book. AHHHHH.

Anna + St. Clair
(Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins) – Um, there’s not much to say with these two except for the fact that they are the most delightful EVER. Seriously, their story never fails to bring the warm fuzzies. It doesn’t get any better than this, folks.

Yes, nine because I won’t can’t make up my mind about the last one. Who makes up your list? Hope you all get lots of sweets for Valentine’s Day!

  1. I TOTALLY FORGOT Ian and Wanderer. *adds to post* I haven’t read most of these, but I have read Anna and the French Kiss, and her and Etienne St. Clair are definitely on my list. I love him so much!

Rachel @ Beauty and the Bookshelf

  2. YES to Sean and Puck (and omg can they get moving on that movie and cast Alicia already), and Anna and St. Clair (not Etienne!) almost made my list too.

  3. Puck and Sean are on my list too. Great list!

  4. I loved The Host! And Anna and the French Kiss made it on my list too :) Great list!

    Here’s my Top Ten!

  5. Giiiiirl! Julian?! lol Ok, ok. I can see the appeal, even though I’m still Team Alex. :)

I loooooove Sean and Puck and they almost made my list, but I had to reign it in or I’d have a top 50, haha. Great list!!

  6. Wait. WAIT . I haven’t read book 2 of GoFaT. I KEEP FORGETTING, BUT I REMEMBER LIKING HECTOR…

    Sean and Puck!
    Anna and ETIENNE!

I’m Team Alex, but… I liked Julian a decent amount lol

  7. *squeals* I LOVE THIS LIST! Absolutely agree with Sydney/Adrian – they are one amazing, smooshy couple <3 I enjoyed Puck/Sean although their romance didn't leave a lasting impression on me – it's been too long ;) BUT LENA AND JULIAN. *heart explodes* I love that couple. I'm dreading the third book because Lena will probably end up with Alex and hnnnnng… :( I Haven't read the second Fire and Thorns book yet but I'm looking forward to it! I read the ARC of the first book and I think there were big changes with the ending? May have to reread it! Unearthly has me all kinds of confused! I don't know which guy I'm rooting for at all. Usually I'm tipping one way or strongly divided between two equally great guys. I'm sort of casually fine either way with this triangle? LOL. I thought about Anna/Etienne HARD. I fell in love with these two so badly. I feel like adding a #11 to my list…

Commencing "shut up" now! Here's my list of top ten romances! :)

  8. Love this list! My fave couple from the ones you mentioned are Puck & Sean.

  9. Julian! *jaw drops* Nope Sorry *steals Lena back for Alex*

But I also loved Puck and Sean

  10. Uhg, Sean and Puck, I can’t even, it’s just. omg. That is probably the most intense romance ever. I just… I love them.

  11. WANDA AND IAN! I totally forgot all about them! I haven’t read any of the other books that are on your list, but they’re all on my TBR! Great list :)

  12. I won’t go into detail about how much I agree with you on your list because you already know. I also won’t go into detail about OMG THERE ARE SO MANY WE FORGOT (yes, I say “we” because I am claiming some ownership over your list since I cannot even bring myself to narrow down my own). And I especially will not go into detail about Christian and Tucker and homggg, why!?!?!!!

Anyway, Elisa and Hector. I haven’t yet read that book, but EFF YES because in the first book I wanted them together sooooo bad, but I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to be rooting for them. Now I know that I should trust my instincts. And I should go hurry up and find the time to read that book, too. :D

Also: “Alex, wah wah wah. NO.” That made me laugh really hard.

  13. Love Mary & James! Also Anna & Etienne, and of course Wanderer & Ian. So many awesome choices on this list! I need to start reading the Bloodlines series so I can get acquainted with the Sydney-Adrian dynamic :)

  14. I did quite adore Puck & Sean’s romance. The Scorpio Races is a beautiful book, and I think their relationship was SO well done.
