The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
Alright, so I’ve read and seen a few modernizations of Pride and Prejudice, but who knew that one in freaking VLOG form could be so great?! I certainly didn’t! I kept seeing its name pop up on my twitter feed, namely through Jen and Lindsey, but I was kind of wary about jumping in. Fast forward to this past weekend and I found myself consuming every single episode in record time. Who needs sleep right? The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is so charming, witty, manages to keep pretty damn close to the source material in its own way, and…I am in love (see also: obsessed).
These last few days have consisted of my reblogging all sorts of stuff on tumblr, freaking out about recent developments on twitter (OMG, CRAZY SHIT IS HAPPENING) and, yes, rewatching my favorite moments (and there are A LOT). Right now I am super nervous about the next episode. And it’s like…I know Pride and Prejudice, know its storyline and how everything will turn out, but The Lizzie Bennet Diaries still manages to make the story so fresh and new. That, my friends? Is awesome.
Even if you haven’t read Pride and Prejudice, I think it would be easy to find something to enjoy in the show. If you love the book and are open to something a little different? I highly recommend it. I think you’d be surprised with how fantastic it is.

Love this series! I resisted it at first because I’m not a Jane Austen fan but when I finally caved I was kicking myself for waiting so long. Now I may be slightly obsessed!
I can’t wait to start watching this! A lot of people are telling me I’m going to enjoy it, and I think so as well, since I loved the book!
AHHHHHHHHHH. I haven’t read P&P, but I’m going to now because of LBD. I tell people all the time that this is some of the best storytelling happening on any medium right now. I’m like…. dying waiting for the new episode. I came late to the party, too and watched about 50 back to back and then kept up with them ever since. SO GOOD.
Oh, yeah, that’s fun, though I probably don’t understand every wird Lizzie says, she speaks darn fast!
(Now I just wish the videos buffered faster. I’m supposed to have a high-speed connection, come on!)
I’m not a big fan of the classics, like.. I just can’t get INTO them. But I really do like fresh takes on classics – because I DO think they are great stories at heart, I just can’t get into the language most of the time. I’ve been seeing this mentioned on Twitter ALL the time, and I’ve been epically curious about it! I’m so easily addicted to things like this, so once I start I know I won’t be able to stop! :D Thanks for filling me in on what it is though! Now I know! :D And now I know I need to watch it !!
