2012 Reading Goals and Challenges

Happy 2012, everyone! I hope you all had a great night with your loved ones. Here are my reading goals and challenges for this year:

2012 Reading Challenge
Challenge Goal: 135 books
A handful more books than last year so I think it’s definitely doable.

2012 Debut Author Challenge
Challenge Goal: 40 debuts
I read 32 in 2011, and I loved supporting the debut authors, so I really want to continue doing that. Plus! 2012 debuts are sounding really amazing.

2012 “New Adult” Challenge
Challenge Goal: Minimum of 6
As much as I love reading about those sixteen year old kids, I sometimes need something a little more mature.

Sophomore Reading Challenge
Challenge Goal: Minimum of 10
I loved so many ’11 debuts that it only makes sense to read their sequels, right?

Other goals:
• Comment more! I think I did okay with checking out blogs, but I definitely want to get better at it.
• Stop delaying writing reviews. Some books do need some sinking in, but it’s the worst when I take ages to write one and then I can’t really remember details/what I loved.
• Grow readership + improve blog SEO.
• Only request Netgalley books that I REALLY want to read.

I’m sure I’ll update this post again with other challenges and goals. Now, to begin reading…

  1. Good luck to you! All of these challenges you’ve signed up for seem completely reasonable and doable… unlike mine! haha

  2. The problem with the New Adult Challenge is that the highest level is either 9 books or Indipendent. – I need something like 200. Why is there no 200? *cries* That would be challenging, but doable. But no. Every freaking Adult novel I can get my hands on. There are over 1000 in my mother’s bookshelf! Holy cow, no!

Also: motherkissing saxophon, how do you manage to read 40 YA debuts? I’ve barely managed 12 last year (OMG it’s last year now!) and well, I cheated and used some German debuts… (Rachel Vincent, Simone Elkeles, Ally Condie) but that! *gasp*

But if you ignore this one challenge, I totally agree (have I just said “totally”? Why don’t I add a ‘fetch’ – Because I can totally make that one happen, too ) with Aylee. They look doable. And reasonable.

I think I have.. 2 x 26 ABC books, 15 New Author books, 40 TBR books, 15 Historicals, 5 books that have been adapted into TV shows, 12 debuts.. I have no idea how I’ll do that. *heavy sigh*

And now that I’ve posted a comment almost longer than the actual post, I’ll just shut up very abruptly and go in the middle of the-

  3. Happy New Year!!

Those are great goals and challenges. I’m participating in a few of those myself. I think I might have bit off more than I can chew with my challenges though.

I have not seen the new adult challenge around much. Ill have to check that one out.

    Here are my 2012 goals

  4. the new adult category sounds interesting to me. give me a heads up if you find any, i’m definitely going to check it out

    good luck!
