Top 10 Characters in 2011

Event hosted by A Life Bound by Books, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Fiktshun, and Two Chicks On Books

Cricket Bell – He’s on my boyfriends list and I’ll repeat what I said there: Cricket is the sweetest, most adorably awkward, thoughtful, genuine boy ever. To summarize, he is all sorts of perfect.

Karou – BAMF, fierce, amazing, etc. She has blue hair and she’s my hero for making ex-boyfriends itch in uncomfortable places. In addition to that, she just goes through an incredible journey and I can’t wait to see her continue to kick ass.

Jem Carstairs – This sweet boy! He is so full of goodness and he absolutely killed me in Clockwork Prince. Despite his condition, he’s so full of life and aspirations. Live, Jem, live!

Saba – A perfectly complex character. There were times that I wanted to smack her around for being so damn stubborn, but it was great to see her determination and her growth as she gradually stepped out of her brother’s shadow.

Arya Stark – I’m still in the middle of reading A Storm of Swords, but Arya is easily my favorite from the large cast of characters in the series (both in books and show). Though she’s young, she has shown so much physical and mental strength. I have to admire her!

Adrian Ivashkov – I see how broken he is, and how much maturing he still has to go through, but he’s also such a good person underneath his bravado. He has a big heart and he’s hilarious, too. Skeleton tattoo, anyone?

Sean Kendrick – I sound like a broken record with The Scorpio Races all over these lists, but I think my heart grew twenty times bigger because of this man. This man and his horse. LOVELOVELOVE.

Elisa – This list would not be complete with her because her character journey is one of my absolute favorites. From an immature girl, she grew into a strong woman and leader. I can’t wait to continue on more adventures with her.

Mary Quinn – My favorite girl detective! She’s clever, confident, and she’s so full of fire. She really holds her own in both books in the series and I have no doubt that she’ll continue to do much of the same in the next installment.

Sophie Mercer – I don’t talk about her/this series much, but Sophie is easily one of the most likable protagonists for me. She has so much energy, is hilarious, and she’s definitely the highlight of the series.

Honorable Mentions:
• Meghan Chase from The Iron Fey series
• Penryn from Angelfall
• Day AND June from Legend
etc, etc

  1. I just read Scorpio Races last night. I literally stayed up to the early hours to read it straight through, so Sean isn’t on any of my lists but I hear ya. He is absolutely gorgeous! Serious crushing going on!

  2. This blogtheme.. *weeps*

I will most likely read every book you’ve mentioned here – Because you chose guys from books I loved and I agree with your picks there! Except with Meghan. I really was annoyed. (My theme for today is Top Ten: Most Annoying and she is one of the characters I’ve listed. *sigh* Don’t hate me!? >_<

    Patricia

  3. As is clearly demonstrated in today’s post on my blog, I fell in love with Cricket Bell. He is most adorably awkward, clever, interesting boy ever and I love him. I definitely commend Stephanie Perkins for coming up with such a great character!

And Sean Kendrick. *sighs* I read and loved The Scorpio Races recently. Maggie Stiefvater’s writing is just BRILLIANT.

    • Steph Perkins needs to write all of our lives and give us all perfect boys like St. Clair and Cricket. GAH, SO AMAZING..

And, yes, The Scorpio Races was so.damn.good.

  4. I have so much love for TSR and sean! very pleased Adrian and Jem made your list too

    The Cait Files

  5. OOH I didn’t know that you’d read Hex Hall. I LOVE SOPHIE. She’s one of the most hilarious protagonists I’ve read. Also, awesome call on Arya! I haven’t compiled my list yet (I’m putting it off because I know it’s going to be difficult to narrow it down), but she’s definitely up there in the favourites!

  6. aaa i need 2 read maggie stiefvater’s new masterpiece

  7. Oh Cricket, you adorably awkward nerd. I LOVE YOU! <3 And I sosososo agree with your choices of Akiva, ADRIAN (because his name always demands capslock), Sean, Sophie, Meghan, Day and June. I love them all so dearly. I haven't read the other books yet, but I'm especially excited to start Blood Red Road. I have a copy begging to be read, just need to find the time!

    Love your list!

  8. I still have yet to meet many of these characters but I can’t wait. I know I will love Karou, Cricket, and Saba especially. It makes me so happy that you love Jem so! I’ve always favoured him over Will, as well.

  9. Aw, I’m reading the Vampire Academy books now (I’m JUST writing my review for Spirit Bound before moving on to Last Sacrifice), and my heart is breaking for Adrian. I LOVE Adrian. He’s a sweetheart… I desperately want for him to get a happily-ever-after in the Bloodlines series!
